I began with the idea of photographing people's hands and using them as portraits. I wanted to tell their story with their hands. These are the manos of the first and second generation Mexican immigrants in my community. For each location I chose something  associated with the individuals and their life stories. Every photo was different, but they came together as a whole. I later returned to share the photos with them, gather more stories and to make classic portraits.
